Well we are finally here. It’s been great catching up with friends and family. Last night we spent an awesome evening at Grant park. Every tuesday the Chicago Film festival hosts “Movie at the Park:. I will put some pictures from that later tonight. Diego had a blast, but crashed out on the grass around 9pm. Tonight we may be headed to Wrigley to cheer on the Cubs. This will be Diego’s first ball game ever.  That’s that. So far its been great, and great weather as well. I am glad to hear Tropical storm Fay wasn’t all that bad. That is a relief.

Last night I got a text telling me Leroi Moore, saxaphonist for the Dave Matthews band passed away last night. This was so sad to hear. I have been a fan of the Dave Matthews band since they’re very early Material. Leroi was one of the founding members. Read more about it here. Well people, see you around, hablamos despues.

Miami to New York In one day…

So I am here stuck in New York Laguardia. My flight is delayed again. Everytime I fly out of this airport I am delayed. Well it is really gloomy and rainy, maybe that is why. This was my final trip to New York. I’ve been coming out here since February. Its been really cool, and this coaching network has been an amazing experience.  I got to see some friends I haven’t seen in quite a while.

Back to this airport, this place is a circus right now. Lines everywhere, people screaming and complaining. I can’t wait to get back home. I’ve been up since 3am this morning. I drove myself to the airport and barely got on the flight to New York.  I was able to get Diego’s gifts  this time around and yes they are still with me and not wondering in the subway of New York somewhere.  That’s that. Gonna join the madness here and try to figure out what the heck is going on!!! See you Sunday.

Radio Art, a local Chicago radio station invited us over for an interview. Go here to listen to it HERE. We are the fourth interview in audio section. It was really cool. We sat in this house transformed into a Cafe. Very artsy and trendy. They had some great coffee there. Brent and I sat there for about 30 minutes and answered questions about the saturn project, our plans, our upcoming album, past experiences and getting involved in social issues. During one the questions you can hear Diego crying in the background. My voice sounds a little funny in the recording. It almost sounds as if I had a lisp. Maybe they should get a better Mp3 recorder. Anyhow, enjoy.

Yesterday…

So yesterday I auditioned at the New World School of Art in downtown Miami. I decided to give theater a shot and maybe do some acting. I gotta admit I was so nervous. I had to do 2 contrasting Monologues. Monologue #1. Jeremiah, a drifter, makes a final offer to a girl he loves. #2. Reuben’s family has just survived a forest fire. Here he thinks about the loss.

I really feel as if I did better than I thought I would’ve done. By the time I got to the facilities I had both monologues memorized and ready to do. Prior to this I’ve had no formal training in the art of acting and theater. I did the best I could and the results were good. The dean of the school said I had some really good but “raw” talent. I could definitely use the training. So we sat and talked about the program and Dang! It is a pretty intense program, that would require an immense amount of my time. They suggested I study elsewhere for a year, get the training, Find an agent and start getting some work, rather than being there for 4 years in order to get degree in theater. They admit you don’t really need a degree to act, so that is the plan. I am not stopping! I am gonna pursue the dream no matter what. This winter is going to be a historical one, I will tell you why later…have a happy hump day…

Last Sunday’s word and a Wideawake review…

So I finally got Sunday’s teaching HERE, and I finished reading Erwin Mcmanus‘ book Wideawake. This was an amazing read and by far, yet another one of my McManus favorites. This read has definitely taken me into a whole new dimension of thinking and living. Its a breath of fresh air into the dreams we have and why. And I have a little more than 10 takeaways for you.

-Living wide awake is about realizing that the world needs you to live up to your potential. There are others whose lives and future depend on you stepping up and living big.

-Problems,obstacles, and challenges can either become the markers of our limits and limitations, or they can become the springboard into a whole new world.

-There is never a point in your life where you lack value or significance. There’s always something for you to contribute.

-(This really stood out for me in a significant way…Encouraging) The World we create in our heads is the world we will create through our actions. (This is really crazy because this concept can very well be the destroyer or builder of lives and dreams.)

-You’re not called to settle for the good; you are called to a life of greatness,

-Unless you learn how to adapt to your environment, to your circumstances, and to your challenges, you will continue to use them as an excuse, claiming they are the obstacles that stop you from living the life of your dreams.

-When you don’t know what’s really important, you treat everything the same

-Too often we have called our detachment from the world around us an expression of holiness when in truth it is an abdication of our responsibility to serve humanity and make this world a better place.

-God does not exempt you from the life you you created before you came to him. The whole journey begins from wherever you are to wherever you are going.

-If you don’t develop the ability to say no to many important things, you’re going to lose the big yes of your life.

-God doesn’t draw you a map, doesn’t give you chalk lines, doesn’t leave you bread crumbs. He builds your character. As you develop your character, you haven an internal compass that guides your way and begins to five you clarity to see the life of your dreams.

-History doesn’t happen to us it happens through us…”good stuff!!!!”

-Jesus Clearly expects us to be full engaged in this life and the creation of the future.

-Every great life begins at the same place–the beginning.

-It would be tragic if only those with the worst intentions believed they could affect the future of humanity

-You can only give to others what you have. You have to be alive to resuscitate the unconscious, much less raise the dead.

-Life doesn’t bring you joy; you bring joy to life.

-The less you enjoy your life, the weaker you will be on your journey. Why> because the joy of the Lord is your strength.

-God is love. God is life. You cannot know God’s love and not enjoy life.Holiness does not leave you hollow, it makes you hedonist. No one should enjoy life more than you. Paul tells us, “Do not be drunk with wine, but be drunk with the Holy spirit. Drink up! Drink Deep! Enjoy life. Enjoy all the beauty around you.

-You can imagine far more then you will ever live, but you won’t live far more then you imagine. To imagine could cost you everything…

Staying True…with random thoughts…
August 6, 2008, 10:20 am

In this Journey one thing is for certain, nothing will seem certain. Yeah, its a crazy thought but its true. That is the whole point in our faith walk. Walking into the unknown knowing God will make a way, and we do the rest. The fate of the world is in our hands. We can’t lose our identity in the process. We can’t be like the waves. We need to stand strong on who we are and were created to be. Stay true to the cause no matter what. You can’t just change because of your surroundings or the people you re with (I’ve seen that way too much!), you have to stay true. I have learned SO much these 2 days, enough to know there is something greater out there!!! This world is huge and filled with endless possibilities. Changing the world is not an easy task, but it requires hard core revolutionaries willing to take the challenge and march forward with everything! You have to stay true otherwise you are already dead and are extra baggage that needs to be left behind. I am excited and encouraged. All this traveling has got me thinking, I have no place here. I will never belong. My home is in something beyond what we see. I told my wife 2 yrs ago. Our lives will never be the same. The Road will be our home, and God will be our bread, and our children will see faith come alive all around us. Can’t wait to be back in Miami tonight.

cheers

I don’t wanna become the system that destroyed many friends and families growing up. I don’t wanna conform to the ways of that system. Talk the talk but not walk the walk. I have never felt so nauseous seeing the system first hand. I think we are missing the point. Many are fighting the wrong battle and the hidden agendas will soon come to light. If this is what it is about, I want no part. It doesn’t seem to be aligning with the truth. This is not what he intended many to become. We’ve taken the truth and light out the equation in order to hide the shallowness and pass it from hand to hand and pat ourselves on the back. Its been a while since I have been in a room with tons of masks and not seeing people for who they really are. But within all of that, its great to see Revolutionaries and dreamers staying strong and true and coming together. Its not about us, or treasures down here, but something greater, something higher, something significant. Maybe they should consider letting Jesus back into the building…just a thought

Well I am here in Charlotte waiting to catch my next flight towards San Antonio. I really like this airport, it has tons of retaraunts and sports stores… I hope this next flight has room for my carry-on, or even me. This plane is tiny. Some of these planes even have propellers. Scary… anyhow, my flight has been pushed till 4:20. That really sucks. Oh well, Come to think of it, Diego would probably love to see this toy plane Daddy will be flying in. Have a great monday, see ya tonight…
